Description of project

The project deals with Silver fir reintroduction into secondary Norway spruce monocultures at the growing stages of young plantations/pole stands. The goal is to evaluate main regeneration fellings according to S. fir growth and development (growth acclimation), vitality (non-specific stress indicators: chl. A/B; carotenoids; phenolic compounds; proline); phytopathology status and defoliation; mycorrhizal fungi as a dependent variable on a felling type and as independent variable for vitality a phytopathological status observation, as well. This will be investigated based on site conditions (in horizontal scale – from nutrient poor or rich to water logged and gleyic or peated soils). The project also focuses on a microclimatic extreme of large-scale clearing after forest disturbance.
