Abstract

The work is focused on the assessment of the fuel chips production technology from the locality “stump” up to delivery to the customer. Energy demand was assessed by using the LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) method with a special focus on the energetically most intensive part – operation. After the deduction of all energy costs, the technology is effective and brings additional energy of 18.39 GJ on the input to the customer for each delivered atroton of green chips with an average calorific value of the supplied chips amounting to 20 GJ.At-1 (SIMANOV 1993). In the case of the customer Elektrárna Poříčí (Electric Power Plant), this means 1.8 MWh of energy that is supplied additionally with each ton of dendromass into the energy supply network. The highest energy demand is shown in the operational part (1.37 GJ.At-1) where the most energetically intensive operation is removal of slash (0.64 GJ.At-1). The second most demanding operation is haulage with a share of 0.43 GJ.At-1 in total energy costs. Haulage effectiveness depends on the hauling distance and on the amount of dendromass transported per haul. The share of the technology manufacture in the total energy balance amounts only to 10% of energy costs. Results of this work facilitate a comparison with other technologies and establishment of procedures with the lowest demand of energy.
