Description of project
The aim of the project is, based on the assessment of historical climate trends and their impact on the hydrological regime of selected forest catchments and systematic monitoring of ongoing forest change using field measurements and RS data, mapping and species analysis of moss and retained water quantity, to analyse and model the potential impacts of current IPCC scenarios on the hydrological balance and changes in runoff regime, soil moisture dynamics, risks of increased fluvial erosion and groundwater storage in these catchments. Then, using hydrological, ecological and stand modelling tools, identify risks associated with changes in the hydrological regime and propose appropriate forestry and water management measures to mitigate risks associated with climate change impacts.
