Description of project

The aim of the pilot research project is to search for stands or individuals of beech and ash in dry habitats in the CR, using molecular analyzes (DNA, RNA) to determine the genetic variability in beech stands and to focus on the knowledge of adapt. mechanisms related to tolerance to abiotic stresses in connections with habitat conditions. At the same time, there will be a dendrochronol. methods for selected ecotypes investigated the growth response to drought. Suitable beech ecotypes from drier habitats will serve as starting material to ensure reprod. mat. for the possible establishment of proven. research to monitor the resilience of beech against the current climate with annual temperatures and precipitation declines for the use of resilient provenance even in areas affected by change.
