Description of project

The aim of the project is to extend knowledge about the genetic characteristics of the local residual population and cultural occurrences of the European yew in the Podyjí NP, the Thayatal NP, small-scale specially protected areas and SCI in ecosystems closer to nature along the Dyje River, to develop a software solution for the identification of yews in hard-to-reach locations using drones, to determine the supply of yews with nutrients in the context of elements available in the soil, to identify and estimate the risk of insect and fungal pathogens and to incorporate all the knowledge into a comprehensive proposal of a regional action plan with a medium-term outlook of recommended measures to achieve an environmentally acceptable restoration of the fragmented Thaya yew population.
