Department of Testing Laboratories provides quantitative analyses of these following forest ecosystems components:
- water (e.g. bulk open field, througfall, stemflow, soil water, surface water, drinking water)
- forest soil and humus
- plant material (e.g. leaves, needles, mosses, fungi, biomass).
The Department of Testing Laboratories performed these analyses:
Water samples
- Determintaion of basic anions (chloride, fluoride, nitrate, nitrite, sulphate) by ionic chromatography.
- Determination of pH, electric conductivity, total alkalinity by electrochemical method.
- Determiantion of dissolved organic carbon and total nitraogen by TOC/TN analyzer.
- Determination of basic cations (Al, Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Zn) by ICP-OES.
- Determination of ammonium and P-PO43- by spectrophotometry (flow systems).
Plant material
- Determination of total content of nitrogen, sulphur and carbon by combustion method.
- Gravimetric determination of dry matter.
- Determination of K, Mg, Ca, Fe, Al, Mn, Zn, P, Cu, Ni, B in liquid sample by ICP-OES.
- Determination of Cr, As, Cd, Pb in liquid sample by ETA – AAS.
- Determination of Na in liquid sample by AAS.
- Determination of chloride and fluoride by ionic selective electrode.
Soil samples
- Determination of total content of nitrogen, sulphur and carbon by combustion method.
- Gravimetric determination of dry matter.
- Determination of soil pH by potentiometry (H2O, KCl, and CaCl2 leachate).
- Determination of exchangeable cations (Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Zn) by AAS.
- Aqua regia extractant determination of As, Cr, Cu, Ni, P, Pb by ICP-OES.
- Aqua regia extractant determination of Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Na, Mn, Zn by AAS.
- Determination of chloride by argentometric titration.
- Determination of P by spectrophotometry (flow method).
- Weight of dry sample.
- Exchangeable acidity.
- Aqua regia extractant determination of Cd by ETA – AAS.
- K2SO4 extractant determination of N-NH4+ and N-NO3-.
