Description of project
The aims of the project are (i) to develop a meta-analysis of the effect of different pioneer tree species on soil biological properties, the amelioration effect and their effect on the site taking root of the target tree species, (ii) to compare the effect of their soil properties on the growth of understory tree species by studying experimental underplantings and succession plots, (iii) to compare soil properties under different tree species and various regeneration methods, (iv) to analyse the relationship between leaf traits (specific leaf area, N and P concentration in foliage, foliage life span) to soil properties and tree site taking root, and (v) development of certified methodology and workshops´ organisation concerning appropriate pioneer tree species selection, their ameliorative effect and restoration of large-scale clearings and post-mining sites.
