Description of project
The goal of the project is to find genotypes of different poplar species resistant or less sensitive to drought stress. Goals: 1) Field investigation and individual selection based on assessment of their phenotypic properties at problematic locations, 2) Testing of resistance of selected individuals by controlled pot experiment, 3) Evaluation of genetic variability of experimental material by molecular markers detecting polymorphic segments of microsatellite DNA loci, 4) Transcriptome sequencing of drought resistant and sensitive genotypes of poplar trees by analysis of differential gene expression, 5) Finalization of methodical workflow for identification of resistant individuals, 6)verification of the methodology on random samples of poplar trees.
