Description of project
In the last years, there are more frequent findings of Gemmamyces bud blight in the Ore mountains, until now, pathogen was on introduced blue spruce (Picea pungens), and in now it’s found on the buds of native Norway spruce (Picea abies). The disease in the Ore mountains has noticeably spread in the 2015. The aim of the project is (i) finding out the intensity of the damage of Norway spruce, (ii) ascertain the pathogen distribution in the Ore mountains, (iii) determination of environmental factors (habitat, climatic, geomorphological factors, and so on) affecting spread of the disease, (iv) exploring the biology of the fungi, (v) detecting differences in physiological processes in attacked and un-attacked spruces, (vi) suggestion of practical forest management processes, leading to restrict development and spread of the Gemmamyces piceae on the Norway spruce.
