Description of project

The aim of the project is to set up and model the technology of vegetative reproduction of genetically diverse individuals of valuable residual populations of lowland spruces (Podyjí National Park, Czech Switzerland National Park, Orlík n. Vlt., Kácov) and spruces surviving drought and bark beetle calamity (Kácov, Klokočná, Archbishopric of Prague). The genetic characteristics of selected and comparative trees will be determined by DNA analyzes at all localities. In five of them, the most suitable graft donors will be selected for the cultivation of seedlings for the establishment of clone archives, according to the observed diversity, for repatriation purposes. At the Archbishopric of Prague site, the expression level of selected genes will be determined by RNA analyzes for some resistant spruces.
