Description of project
The aim of the project is to gain comprehensive knowledge of the ecology of European hare (Lepus europaeus) as an bioindicator species of agroecosystem. Results will describe factors that influence the population dynamics of the hare in contrasting landscapes. Factors could be influenced by structure and heterogeneity of agricultural landscape and farming intensity. The results will be based mainly on GPS telemetry of adults in highly diversified landscape (heterogeneous landscape pattern) in comparison with conventionally managed agricultural landscape (homogeneous landscape pattern). Acquired knowledge will be published in the form of certified methodology for the creation of agrotechnical adjustments that will help to more effectively protect hares, as well as other farmland species.
