Description of project

The project focuses on optimization of forest management in pine and birch stands at lower altitudes (1st oak and 2nd oak-with-beech vegetation zones). The proposed forest management will include amounts of biomass and important nutrients in particular components of forest ecosystems i.e. above-ground biomass, roots and forest soil. Proposed procedures will focus on use of production potential of stands in terms of both quantity and quality of production while minimizing impact of forest biomass removal on forest environment. These measures will help foresters to keep forest management sustainable.
