Description of project

Ensuring genetically high-quality sources of reproductive material of forest trees is a basic assumption for future yield, adaptive capacity and ecological stability of the forest. The aim of the project proposal is to expand and clarify knowledge about the genetic characteristics of selected sources of qualified reproductive material and autochthonous populations of forest trees in the Czech Republic, obtained using DNA analyses. The knowledge gained about the genetic diversity of the tree species of interest are important for ensuring the genetic variability of reproductive material used in the restoration of forest stands, and will be used for prognosis of the development and conservation strategy of these populations and as a basis for decision-making by the state administrative.
