The paper focuses on measuring of the power consumption requirements of forest harvesting and logging machines. Results of measured technical (mainly energy requirements of driving and working mechanisms), ergonomic and technological parameters are published. There was measured a prototype of lower-class forwarder with these parameters: weight 6 220 kg, engine power 55 kW and load capacity 5 000 kg, with a maximum length of hauled logs up to 5 m. Parameters measured in this machine included hydraulic oil pressure, flow and temperature in order to ascertain energy demands of working operations. The measurement revealed that the maximum energy demand of hydraulic crane work at using multiple functions was about 13 kW (+ losses). Conversely, driving operations took advantage of wattage higher than given by the engine and the calculated value ranged from 65 kW to 70 kW. The measurement results may serve as one of the input information in multiplecriteria analysis for the optimization of deployment of logging and hauling machines.
