n spite of the fact that introduced tree species represent an important forestry issue at both European and world levels, much less attention is paid to them in the Czech Republic. They are expected to have many functions, primarily the production of timber being superior compared to native species wood quality and quantity, as well as soil-improving and stand stabilizing function, or enhancing the landscape diversity, ornamental function and many others. The work was focused on grand fir (Abies grandis /Dougl. ex D. Don/ Lindl.), which is one of the often cultivated introduced tree species in the Czech Republic. In general, there have not been gathered enough data on grand fir’s production in different habitat conditions and age levels yet. The aim of this work is to study the growth and production of stands in the Bohemian-Moravian Highland. Monitoring was carried out on three plots of the same age (20 years), where dendrometric parameters (height, thickness) and stocks were compared with native tree species. Another part of the research was focused on determination of the growth properties of grand fir at a younger age. To create increment curves, it was necessary to collect tree sample discs, and make increment analysis by the Korf’s function. The study shows that grand fir at a young age achieves better production and growth properties than our native tree species.
