The department deals with research, expert and monitoring activities concerning forest biotic harmful agents and is providing the Forest protection service including the biological efficiency of pesticides testing in forest protection (GEP Station) and processing the confirmations in appropriation system. Employees of the department are working on the research studies on insect and fungi importance in forest ecosystems. Within the other research activities they deal with study and effectiveness of forest protection methods for selected harmful factors, e.g. bark beetles etc., or are involved i the grants of other departments of the research institute (NAZV and others). Beside the research activity, nearly all members of the department are involved in Forest protection service.
Head of the department is Ing. Miloš Knížek, Ph.D., deputy is Ing. Vítězslava Pešková, Ph.D. Headquarters is located in Strnady, and there is a regional working site in Frýdek-Místek.
Forest Protection Service (LOS)
Provides advisory, training and expert service in forest protection, is processing the confirmations in appropriation system and is testing the biological efficiency of pesticides in forest protection (GEP Station).
