Evaluation of 126 partial populations (forest stands certified for seed collection), this is the base for research of Scots pine variability. As subject of evaluation, there have been assessed 104 maternal forest stands from the Czech Republic and 22 forest stands from the Slovak Republic. Their progenies, having been planted on five research plots in the Czech Republic, have been evaluated at the age of 17 years. Characteristics of progenies (height growth, D.B.H., stem form, thickness of branches, vitality) have been researched and evaluated regarding to geographical localities of maternal stands origin (regions and areas by Rubner, Reinhold /1953/, natural forest areas, forest vegetation zones, altitudes and local origin in narrow and broad sense). On the base of mathematical statistical and graphical valuation, there has been possible take a course to question of regional Hercynian-Sudeten and Carpathian populations. In addition to variability evaluated on the base of geographical characteristics, it was possible to state considerable level of variability among individual partial populations in the frame of determined territorial units.
