Forests in the Czech Republic (CR) are visited very intensively by inhabitants for different purposes. Damage on forest stands, forest lands and infrastructure in forests in the CR were investigated by virtue of the Forests of the Czech Repulic State Enterprise, administering 52% of all forests in CR, using questionnaires sent to all organizational units on the level of forest districts and forest plants of the State Enterprise. Average annual damage caused by forest visitors in 2005 – 2007 reached 9.7 mil. CZK, which is considerably lower value compared to damage of similar essence ascertained ten years ago. Nevertheless, results prove big objective problems of forest owners and personnel in processes of damage identification, respective offenders seeking, damage valuation and damage compensations. Of the total damage value only for the 4.8% the offenders were found out, and even lower share of damage was compensated. It means that forest owners and tenants bring almost all damage costs to their detriment. The damage can be different in a low forest type compared to high forest type.
