Abstrakt
Tree species composition in forest stands has been changed both intentionally by introducing new tree species and unilateral usage of timber for limited possibilities of fabrication and as the consequence of unsystematic range management. Hoofed game was forced to look for alternative source of food. Chemical analysis of pine and spruce bark has shown that bark has the same composition of certain chemical substances and elements as other selected natural food and feedstuff. This article focuses on comparison of spruce and pine bark chemical composition in relation to other sorts of feeding and natural food (corn, sugar beet, potatoes, hay, grass). Spruce and pine bark and annual shoots are equal to some superior feedstuff with regard to volume of sugars, pulp and calcium.
