A survey of five experimental oak (Quercus robur and Quercus petraea) provenance areas and sampling of their rhizospheres for Phytophthora spp. were done during the spring and autumn of 2008 and the spring of 2009. Phytophthora spp. were detected from the rhizosphere soil of forty-five areas. Based on morphological features five Phytophthora spp. were detected, i.e. P. quercina T. Jung, P. cactorum (Lebert and Cohn) J. Schrőt, P. citricola Sawada, P. pseudosyringae Jung and Delatour, and P. syringae (Berk) Kleb. As well, the results showed that Phytophthora spp. are present on oak coppice as young as 20 – 25 years.
