Abstrakt

In the Czech forests, silver fir share is only 1%. To raise the share of this species at least by 3%, it should be planted on both long-term forested and agricultural land sites. However, the juvenile fir grows slowly compared to the Norway spruce or European beech and needs more vegetation control on the afforested sites. To support fir performance, we applied Silvamix® fertilizer in three research plots with young fir plantations. The fertilized treatments did not show any difference in growth compared to control fir individuals over 3–5 years of investigation. There were found no differences in damage by frost, color of needles and survival rate. No response to fertilizer can be attributed to surplus nutrient supply in formerly agricultural soil.
