Abstrakt
Sustainable development is today a fundamental term in developing all important economic and human activities. The issue of wood structures is an area in which a blending and a mutual influencing of four sectors occur: forestry – wood engineering – civil engineering – regional development. On the one hand, the sufficient amount of wood in Czech forestry provokes low market prices. On the other hand, the share of wood structures in the total volume of building industry prodution is hardly four percent. In this parameter the Czech Republic lags far behind many advanced countries in which the indicator ranges between 10-80%. Promotion to the manufacture and sales of wood structures and searching new ways for increased sales of wood structures represent a problem solution that would help the entire forestry and wood sector, improving at the same time housing policy and decreasing damage to environment and consumption of non-renewable natural resources.
