Abstrakt

When revising the forest typology mapping of the Forest Management Institute (Brandýs nad Labem, Czech Republic), we found out that it is necessary to determine a new category in forest typology system, which would register wetland alder forests growing in the soil type of histosol, i.e. sites of peat and fen alder forests. In the edaphic category R – peat of the ecological series, the new ecosite 1R – peat alder forests completes current peat spruce forests and peat pine forests. Most of the peat alder forests have been so far ranked into the ecosite of wetland alder forests or peat spruce forests. We explored 4 model plots, and we present their phytocenological releves and laboratory soil sample analyses from soil pits. The new ecosite we established comes under the target management set of stands 29 – management of alder sites in waterlogged soils.
